Ambode is one of the main side snacks of the Kannadigas prepared for almost all festivals and for many occasions. It is a blend of ground pulses and other spices deep-fried in oil. The main ingredients are channa dal (split chickpeas), tuvar dal (yellow spilt peas), green chillies, coriander, onions, red chillies, grated coconut, and a pinch of asafoetida. Ambode tastes good with tomato sauce or ketchup.
