The well-known
Shakti Kendra, Ambalapady is situated 3 km away from
Udupi. This tiny hamlet is famous for its 500 year old temples of Mahakali and Janardhana. It had been the centre of a group of villages called Nidamburu Mane, controlled by a family of Jain chieftains of the Banga dynasty. The palace of these chieftains is situated near the Mahakali temple.
