Amareshwara Temple, built around the 10th century, is a Bhumija style shrine located at Onkar Mandhata in
Khandwa District of
Madhya Pradesh.
The shikhara of the temple displays four spines decorated with chaitya dormers on the central rathas. The quadrants between the spines are filled with miniature shrine models of diminishing heights arranged in 5 to 7 storeys of 3 to 5 horizontal rows.
Another peculiarity of the temple is the prominent sukanasa-antefix exhibiting a sculptured medallion within a conspicuous chaitya-dormer at the base of the spine. The temple also has a mandapa with a bell-roof and the pillars, which are highly ornamented.
The major town close to the temple is Khandwa.
