Alur Dom




Alur Dom is a tasty Bengali dish prepared during Durga Puja. This dish is widely popular in other parts of the country also. Alur dom is cooked by the 'dom' method which is similar to braising.

Basically a potato dish, this is made by sauteing ginger-garlic paste, chilly powder, green chillies, mustard, cumin, bay leaves, sugar or jaggery and cooked potatoes and mixing it with tamarind juice. This dish has a spicy base. Alur dom goes well with Luchi or poori.
