Alumkadavu

The backwater village of Alumkadavu is famed for the building of Kettuvallam – boats used for backwater cruise. Alumkadavu has a history of building Kettuvallams. They were formerly used for ferrying cargo in rural Kerala. With the passage of time, Kettuvallams gave way to modern means of transport and now they are used as houseboats. At Alumkadavu, a kettuvallam has been transformed into a floating conference hall. Alumkadavu is located on the Kollam-Alappuzha National Water Way and is 23 km north of Kollam city. Karunagappally is a nearby town.
