Altinho is a hillock overlooking
Panaji city, the capital of
Goa. Emidio Garcia Road divides this mound into two parts.
Bishop's Palace, the residence of the Archbishop of the state, built in 1894, is a prime attraction here. An impressive coat of arms that belongs to Dom Antonio Sebastio Valente (Goa’s first Patriarch) is placed at the entrance of this palace. The official residence of Chief Minister and the tower of All India Radio are also located in this area.
Close to the hillock are Fontainhas, Shree Maruti Temple, Government Polytechnic, College of Pharmacy and Government Housing.
