Alorna is about 2 km west of Salem, in the north-eastern part of North Goa District. It is a small town in Pernem taluk, near Maharashtra. Mencurem is 2 km west, Chandel is 5 km north and Ozorim is 3 km south.
The prime tourist destination is Alorna Fort, on the banks of the Chapora River. A church founded in 1785 is another point of interest in Alorna. Mayem Lake and Lamgao Caves are at a short distance.
