Aksi is a style of embroidery used mainly in adorning the famous Kashimiri shawls of
Jammu and Kashmir. It is of a very minute nature, requiring a lot of time in its creation. A
saree containing this embroidery usually takes more than 9 months for its completion.
Shawls containing this embroidery are two sided. The designs are created by splitting the warp threads into two while weaving. The other side is either left plain or embroidered with other pattern.
