Akbar-nama is an authentic record of
Akbar's reign and times. It was written by
Abul Fazl, the court historian and closest associate of the emperor. The work is in three big volumes. The first volume deals with the birth of Akbar, the history of Timur's family and the reigns of
Babur and
Humayun and the Suri sultans of Delhi. The second volume describes the detailed history of the reign of Akbar till 1602. The third volume contains the rules, regulations and other related matters of Akbar's reign. In this work Abul Fazl exaggerated the virtues and ignored the crimes of his master.
