Kerala in 1986, Agency for Non Conventional Energy and Rural Technology is an autonomous institution under the Department of Power. It is better known by its acronym 'Anert' and a synonym for renewable energy sources and energy conservation in the state. It is also the nodal agency in Kerala for implementing the renewable energy programs of the Union Ministry of Non-conventional Energy Sources (MNES). Its main objective is to gather and disseminate useful knowledge in various fields of non-conventional energy, energy conservation and rural technology.
