Agastyakoodam Peak

Agastyakoodam, a cone shaped mountain with a height of 1868 m, is on the Western Ghats. The main attraction of this spectacular peak is the Neelakurinji, a flower which blooms only once in twelve years. Best time to enjoy this scenic beauty is from December to April. The peak can be approached on foot from Bonakkad which is 61 km away from Thiruvananthapuram. 32 km of trekking from Neyyar Dam will bring one to Agastyakoodam. The peak was the home of sage Agastya, a confirmed bachelor. Hence, the aborigines dislike the presence of women on the hill. So women are not allowed up the peak.
