Adikumara Temple, famous as Agneeswaram in legends, is situated at
Vayalur near
Tiruchirappalli, in
Tamil Nadu. This ancient shrine enshrines
Lord Muruga as the presiding deity.
The temple also has shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesh and Surya. Most noteworthy feature of the temple is that this twin temple has images of both father (Lord Shiva) and son (Muruga) in the names of Adinathar and Adikumara.
During Adi Amavasi and Thai Amavasi special pujas are offered to the deity. The Lord Muruga is placed with his consort Valli. The annual festival celebrated here is the Ganesh Chaturthi.
