Adi Keshava Ghat

Adi Keshava Ghat, referred to as Vedeshvara Ghat in the ancient Gahadavala inscription, is believed to be the oldest sacred sites of Varanasi, associated with Lord Vishnu. Literally, Adi means 'the original' and Keshava is one of the 108 names of Lord Vishnu. The ancient temple complex of Adi Keshava is on the Adi Keshava Ghat. In Bhadrapada (August-September), one of the 12 months of the North Indian Hindu Calendar, the birthday of Lord Vamana - the fifth incarnation of Lord Vishnu - is celebrated in this temple as well on the ghat.
