Adi Jagannatha Temple

Adi Jagannatha Temple is located at Tirupullani in Ramanathapuram District of Tamil Nadu.

The temple enshrines the idol of Lord Vishnu, which is in reclining posture. Padmasini and Kalyanavalli thayaar are also worshipped here. Sri Thirumangai Alwar has glorified this temple through his pathigams.

The Peepal Tree, located inside the temple, is sacred. People believe that if parents without children perform Nagaprathishtha under this tree, they would be blessed with children with long life. The circumambulation of the tree wards off the worst sins.

Dharba Ashtami held here in the month of December is a major draw. Another great festival, in honour of Sri Adi Jagannatha's darshan to sage Pula and Lord Ram, is also celebrated here.

Tirupullani is about 64 km from Rameshwaram and 154 km from Madurai Airport.
