Adaikalankathanathar Temple




Adaikalankathanathar Temple lies 16 km south of Kanchipuram at Tirumagaral, Kanchipuram District. The place is on the northern banks of the Cheyyar River. Across the river is the Kadambarkoyil temple. The temple has a Rajagopuram with a gajaprashta vimana. The temple dates back to the Chola period. There are many inscriptions from the period of Cholas and Pandyas. Sambandar is said to have visited this shrine after composing a Padigam at Cheyyar. The annual festival is celebrated during the month of February.
