Located at the foot of the Matanga Hill, Achyutaraya Temple is a large temple complex built by an officer of the King Achyutaraya, Salakaraju Tirumaladeva. The temple features two enclosures, each marked by an entrance
gopura. The presiding deity, ‘Tiruvengalanatha’ or Lord
Venkateswara is positioned at the second enclosure of the temple. The shrine of
Garuda is opposite to the temple.
Goddess Devi, Parvati, is enshrined to the south west.
The main attraction is its ornately carved Kalyana Mantapa located in the northwestern corner of the outer enclosure. Its basement is decorated with the relief of elephants and the carvings on slender pillars feature erotic figures. The annual marriage ceremony of the deity is conducted here.
