Achabal Garden

Achabal is located at the foot of a forested hill, 8 km from Anantnag and 56 km from Srinagar. This Mughal Garden was designed in 1620, with its cascading fountains and pavilions, by Shah Jahan’s daughter Jahanara Begum. The Mughal Prince Dara Shikwah has built a mosque in the garden. Nearby is a trout farm for seed fish.

The highly digestive and refreshing water of Achabal Nag flows out at three different places from under a mountain densely covered with deodar trees. There are ruins of an old Hamam on the western side of the garden from which warm water used to flow.

Tourists can stay in the tourist bungalow or tourist huts. Nearest airport is at Srinagar. The nearest railhead is Jammu Tawi.
