Karnataka, the Academy of Sanskrit Research was established by Government of Karnataka in 1978. It organizes oriental research programs, scientific research programs and IT related Sanskrit research programs and conducts academic courses, conferences, seminars and workshops. Also, the academy collects rare and old manuscripts related to
Sanskrit and publishes useful works with their translation in English and other Indian languages.
Academy of Sanskrit Research has a library carrying over 25,000 books on various subjects such as philosophy, literature, culture, vedanta, aesthetics and agriculture. There is also a collection of palm-leaf manuscripts. The institute has published several works on upanishads and sutras.
The academy's museum displays a rare collection of old coins, tools, idols, artefacts from various places, a deer skin with a written text, pens used for writing on palm leaves and other art works reflecting the cultural heritage of India.
