Aasha, an alliance for the mentally retarded persons, is located at Nanganallur in
Chennai,
Tamil Nadu. Founded in 1989 by Sarada Menon, it is an associate member of the World Schizophrenia Fellowship, Canada.
The center is dedicated to serve the cause of Schizophrenics and their families and is regarded as the first of this kind in India. The center conducts occupational therapy, vocational training and recreational activities for the patients. Regular campaigns are conducted to provide best support, advice and counseling to the families of the patients.
