A renowned English poet, translator, linguist, and folklorist, Attipat Krishnaswami Ramanujan was born in
Mysore in 1929. He stands on the forefront of the Indo-Anglian writers. He was fluent in
Kannada and
Tamil. Among his major works are The Striders, Relations, Hymns for the Drowning, and Poems of Love and War. In recognition of his outstanding contributions, he was honored with the
Padmashree in 1976. Ramanujan breathed his last on July 13, 1993.
