The forest of Jhilimili lies on the borders of
Bankura,
Purulia and
Midnapore districts. In Bengali, 'Jhilimili' means fine dots sparkling with light and shadow - created by bright sunshine and shadows of huge trees.
Kansai River flows through this forest and its banks are an ideal picnic spot. The watchtower at Jhilimili offers a commanding view of the surrounding area.
During mid-January, the tribes in Jhilimili celebrate Tusu Parab, in which Goddess Tusu is worshipped. Santhal fairs are conducted during Makara Sankranti. Talberia, Ranibandh and Mukutmanipur are nearby attractions.
Buses reach Khatra and Jhilimili can be accessed from Khatra, which is about 30 km away.
