Loacated on the banks of
Hooghly River in
Alipore, Kali Temple is a Hindu pilgrim center in eastern India. The presiding deity is
Goddess Kali, the idol made of black stone and decorated with gold and silver. The temple is a fine example of
terracotta art. The annual ceremonial bath, an important celebration, is held every year on the snan-yatra day, the rituals being performed by the head priest.
