Ghurni




Situated on the banks of the river Jalangi, Ghurni is a suburb of Krishnanagar in Nadia District. The name 'Ghurni' means 'round', suggesting the round shape of the village. Ghurni is famous for colored clay figures and dolls. The clay model artists have won international repute and fame for their excellence in clay modeling.

There is a Shiva temple with a stone image of Lord Shiva, now well-known as the Ghurni Shiva site.

The nearest railway station is at Krishnanagar. Suburban train services connect Ghurni to Sealdah.
