Mukutmanipur




Mukutmanipur, 55 km southwest of Bankura, is located around a dam of 10,098 m long and 38 m high. The dam draws waters from the Kangsabati and Kumari rivers. Covering an area of 86 sq km, the lake offers a grand view of the sunset. Boating facilities are also available to the visitors. There is also a deer park by the side of the reservoir.

A walk from Mukutmanipur leads to the confluence of rivers. On the Pareshnath Hill, there are stone images of Parshwanath Swami (Jain God) made of chlorite stone, Shiva and numerous other images.

The green island near Mukutmanipur, Banpukuria Mrigadab is full of mahua, kendu and palash trees. Another landmark is Ambikanagar, an ancient center of Jain culture.
