Diamond Harbor is a place of scenic beauty in
South 24 Parganas District of
West Bengal. Originally known as Hajipur, this picnic spot was renamed by the British. Diamond Harbor lies 48 km south of
Kolkata, on the banks of the
Hooghly River.
There is a ruined Portuguese fort overlooking the river. River cruises are the major attractions here. A walk along the riverbank leads to the Sharisha Ramkrishna Mission Ashram, a popular spot for pilgrims.
Regular buses ply from Kolkata to Diamond Harbour. Sealdah Railway Station serves this charming spot.
