Royal Calcutta Turf Club (RCTC), popularly known as the race course, is one of the oldest horse racing turfs in India. Located near the Victoria Memorial Hall at
Kolkata, it was officially founded in 1847. Apart from horse races, this turf was also used for playing polo. The horse-race starts from July to September and November to March. The race is generally held on Saturdays and other public holidays.
The club has billiards /snooker room, club bar, ladies bar and Baqlava lounge. The club library contains a number of books. Membership of the library is limited to club members only.
The clubhouse is opened from 09:00 to 21:00 hrs and closed on race days. Formal dresses are recommended. Ladies and Gentlemen who wear suits/safari/National dress/shirt and tie are appreciated.
The clubhouse and its facilities are restricted for the use of members only. Member can introduce two guests for a Racing day for the purpose of entering into the members’ enclosure. Pets are not permitted in the premises.
