Pung, also known as Manipuri Mridang, is a sort of double-sided drum that is commonly used in
Manipur. It is a ubiquitous component of the Chalom, a Manipuri dance.
In appearance, the Pung resembles the Khol except that it has cylindrical heads and a wooden body. This instrument is thought to be introduced by the King Khuyoi Tompok in 154 AD.
