Kolkata Metro Railway is the first underground metro railway in India. It extends from Dum Dum near
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport to
Tollygunge, the busy north south axis of
Kolkata, over a length of 17 km.
There are 17 stations (15 underground, 1 elevated and 1 on surface) on the way at about one km apart. The stations have 160 m long platforms designed for 8-car-trains. Multi ride tickets are available for journeys.
