Great Egret (Casmerodius albus) is a large member of the heron family, with long legs, white plumage and a slim body. It is about 35 inches with a black or yellow black colored bill.
Nests are usually built 20 to 40 ft above ground in medium-sized trees. The nest is a large, flat platform, constructed of sticks and twigs and typically lined with small pieces of plant material. Females lay five or six eggs. The bird feeds on fish, lizards, frogs, crayfish, small rodents, and insects. It inhabits in freshwater and saltwater marshes, streams, ponds, lakes and mud flats.
It is locally called Bada Bagla.
