Khanakula-Krishnanagar is a pilgrim center located on the banks of the
Dwarakeswar River (Khana River) in
Hooghly District. As this town contains a Krishna temple on the banks of the Khana, it is known as Khanakula Krishnanagar. Siddha-bakula-kunja is a place near to the temple where there is a bakula tree. Abhirama Thakura, a disciple of Lord Nityananda, erected this Krishna temple. It is said that the deity of Gopinatha was unearthed by Abhirama from a place which is now known as Rama Kunda.
Every year during the month of Chaitra (March-April), a big fair is conducted when thousands of people gather here. By road, one can reach Khanakula-Krishnanagar by traveling 90 km from Kolkata towards the west. Nearest railway stations are Canpadanga and Khanakula. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport is the closest airport.
