Jagannath, considered as the Lord of the world, is the name given to a particular form of
Lord Vishnu or
Krishna.
Puri, near the town of
Cuttack, in the state of
Orissa, is considered to be the real dwelling place of Lord Jagannath. The chief center of worship is a great temple complex in that city, which houses three big statues of Krishna,
Balram and
Subhadra.
