Amaragarh is a village located close to
Bardhaman in
West Bengal. Once it was the headquarters of Gopabhum. There are a many old temples namely those of Dugdheshwar Shiva, Mankeshwar Mahadev and Shivakhya Devi.
One can find a large number of old bricks, remnants of pillars and stone images of various deities in the premises of the Mankeshwar Mahadev temple. All these emphasize the ancient religious associations of this place.
