Gopaljew Temple




Gopaljew Temple is situated inside the Mahishadal Rajbari estate in Midnapore District, in the courtyard of an old palace. This temple was built by Rani Janaki in 1778. This huge tall temple built in Nabaratna type of architecture has its main deity of lord Krishna or Gopalji. In this site of heritage ambience, there are two Shiva temples, Jagannath temple, a Natmandir and two Nahabatkhana (concert halls) at the two sides of the entrance gate, giving a majestic look to the temple complex. Rathayatra is the main festival celebrated here.
