Gaur is 12 km south of
Malda, right along the Indo-Bangladesh border, in
West Bengal. It was the capital of three dynasties of ancient Bengal - the Buddhist Palas, the Hindu Senas and the Muslim Nawabs.
As an important historical place of the 14th and 15th centuries, Gaur features Bara Sona Mosque, Dakhil Darwazah, built in 1425, Qadam Rasul Mosque,
Tantipara mosque, Lattan Mosque. There are also decorated tiles on Gumti Gate and
Firoz Minar.
