Gangasagar




Gangasagar is a sacred pond located close to the famous Trimbakeshwar Temple in Nasik. The pond measures 400’ by 300’ and the source of the Godavari River dribbles into this. Devotees believe that one can wash away the sins by bathing here. In order to reach the pond, about 690 stairs have to be climbed. According to some scholars, this reservoir was built by Rajebahadur in 1678. The Gangasagar is the main source of water to the people of Trimbak region.
