Darjeeling Toy Train is the first train in India, originally driven by steam, which started its maiden trip through the
Darjeeling Himalayan Railway in the September of 1881. It starts its journey from
Siliguri and travels over steep hills to reach
Darjeeling, covering a total of 51 miles. This toy train, which comprises a baby locomotive and three coaches, looks like a caterpillar from a distance. It provides a thrilling experience for visitors traveling in this route, when the train moves through the meandering paths cutting the Artilleryman's Rock, almost hugging the side of the hill. The journey offers breathtaking views of nature.
