Assamese Macaque (Macaca assamensis) is a large-sized macaque with a prominent muzzle. The fore quarters are more brightly colored than the hindquarters. The skin around ischial callosities (rump) is hairy. Its face is pinkish and naked except for a few scattered hairs. Whiskers are also prominent, dark gray to bluish, forming a crest in front of ears.
The crown-hairs are directed backwards or in the form of a whorl and with a short median parting behind the brows, yellow tinge prevalent on crown and nape. The outer surface of limbs is colored like the adjacent surface of body. Tail is well haired and pendulous, length from one-half to more than that of head and body. Juvenile has soft hairs, which have yellow bases, and dark brown tips.
The animal can be spotted in the Nameri National Park, Assam.
