Darjeeling Ropeways

Darjeeling, a high altitude health resort in West Bengal, has two long ropeway systems. The main ropeway connects Darjeeling with Bijanbari, a town downhill in the Rangit valley. This one and a half km stretch is the longest in Asia. This mono-cable Ropeway runs close to the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park.

Darjeeling's North Point is linked to Singla by a bi-cable passenger ropeway. It is the first bi-cable passenger ropeway in the country and the longest of its kind in Asia. The Ropeway covers an aerial distance of 8km, descending almost 2 km, to Singla Bazaar. The 45-minute ride stretches over wooded canyons, sparkling streams, mountain ridges, lush green valleys, tea gardens and spectacular waterfalls.
