Churulia is a small village located on the banks of the Ajay, at
Jamuria in
Bardhaman District. The village is famous as the birth place of Nazrul Islam, the national poet of Bangladesh. Maintained by Nazrul Academy, the birth place of the poet attracts large number of tourists. Churulia is also noted for its stone carvings.
