Ramachandra Temple at
Guptipara in
Hooghly district was built by King Harishchandra Rai at the end of the 18th century. It is made of red-colored bricks and has a curved roof. On the roof, there is a tower that can be accessed by a staircase. The temple enshrines painted wooden images of
Lord Ram,
Lakshman and
Sita. The front wall of the temple is covered with brick panels that have carved figures of gods, goddesses and scenes from the Hindu epics,
Ramayana and
Mahabharata.
