Giridih District




Giridih District, spread over an area of 4,853 sq km, is located in the central part of the North Chota Nagpur Divison. It is bounded by Jamui District and part of Nawada District of Bihar in the north, Deoghar and Jamtara districts in the east, Dhanbad and Bokaro districts in the south and districts of Hazaribagh and Kodarma in the west.

Major rivers are Barakar and the Sakri. Paddy, maize, wheat, sugarcane and pulses are grown. Giridih is famous for ruby, mica and also has several coal fields. The Parasnath hill is the highest peak of Jharkhand having altitude of 4,431 ft above sea-level. The Langta Baba Mazar, which is the symbol of communal harmony, is also situated here. Usri fall, Khandoli Park, Madhuban, Jharkhand Dham and Harihar Dham are the other places to visit.
