Perched at an elevation of 3641 m above sea level, Bhavishya Badri is located 17 km to the east of
Joshimath, on the Joshimath-Lata Malari route. Surrounded by dense forests, pilgrims have to trek beyond
Tapovan up the

Lord Narasimha, the god with the head of lion.
It is traditionally believed that a day will come when the present route to Badrinath will be inaccessible and Lord Badrinath will then be worshipped here. Hence the place is called ‘Bhavishya Badri’ which literally means the ‘future Badri’.
