Munsiyari Valley is situated in India's border district of
Pithoragarh at an altitude of 7,000 ft above sea level. This picturesque valley lies in the midst of forest, snow laden mountains and countless glacial springs and serves as the gateway to the famous
Milam and
Ralam glaciers. The valley has a number of hamlets whose culture and lifestyle are rooted in traditional
Hinduism. The villages of this valley are rich in handicrafts such as hand woven woolen carpets, pashmina shawls and thulmas.
The land has a unique cultural heritage and is occupied by the Indo-Tibetan tribal, Bhotias.
Jhora, Cholia and Chhapeili are the traditional folk dances of this region. One of highest mountains in India , Nanda Devi East, with an altitude of 7434 m, can be reached from here.
The route to
