Dharali




Dharali, a picturesque village, is situated 2 km away from Harsil near Gangotri in Uttarkashi District. The village is famous for apple orchards and rajama (red-colored beans) cultivation. Ganges River flows close by and the village is surrounded by pine trees. Dharali offers a panoramic view of snow-clad peaks of the Himalayas. There is an ancient Lord Shiva Temple here, similar to the Kedarnath Temple in structure. It is believed that Bhagiratha had meditated here to bring down the Ganges from heaven to earth. Nearby interesting destinations include Mukhimath Temple, Tapovan, Gangotri, Vasuki Tal, Sat Tal and Chirbasa. The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport. The nearest railway station is at Rishikesh.
