Set amid a pine forest, Chirbasa is a small village located an altitude of 10,000 feet, around 10 km from
Gangotri in
Uttarkashi District. The
Gangotri Glacier flowing down between
Bhagirathi Peaks and
Shivling Peak is a major attraction here.
Bhrigu Parvat and the Manda group of peaks can also be viewed from Chirbasa. The highest of these peaks is 19,685 feet. Pilgrims visit this village on their way to
Gaumukh, 19 km from Gangotri. A forest rest house is available for accommodation.
