Dharmesha Temple

Dharmesha Temple is a sacred shrine on Mira Ghat, one of the ghats in Varanasi. The temple is dedicated to Lord Yama, the god of death and justice. In the vicinity of this temple lies a well, Dharma Kupa - literally meaning the 'Well of Justice'. There are five other temples nearby. These are dedicated to Vriddhaditya, Asa Vinayaka, Yajna, Varaha and Vishalakshi. Among these five temples, the oldest is the temple of Vriddhaditya, literally meaning 'Old Sun'. The shrine is dedicated to Surya, the Sun God, who is also considered the father of Yama.
