Uchagoan



Uchagrama, also known as Uchagoan, is a small village in Mathura District of Uttar Pradesh. It is about 2 km north-west of Varsana, which lies 42 km away from Mathura.

The place is believed to be the birth place of Lalita Devi, one of the eight main gopis (asta sakhis). Hence the village is also popular by the name Lalita Village.

There is a temple, Lalita Krishna Temple, enshrines separate niches for Lord Krishna and Lalita Devi. The Samadhi of Narayana Bhatt Gosvami, Dauji (Balram) Temple and a small Shiva temple are other attractions at Uchagrama.

By road, Uchagrama is connected with Nandagram, Varsana and Mathura.
