Sitara Devi is a legendary Kathak dancer and an actress. She became a versatile dancer under the training of her father Sukhdev Maharaj as well as other masters, Shambhu Maharaj and Acchan Maharaj. At the age of 18, she bagged the Best Actress Award for her best performance in the film 'Vatan'. Later in 1970, she was awarded the
Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. In addition, Sitara is recipient of the Padmashree.
