Siddharthnagar District




Siddharthnagar District in Uttar Pradesh was part of Basti District and came into existence as a new district in 1988. At present, it has an area of about 3,495 sq km with a population of over 2 million. The headquarters is at Navgarh.

The most important place is Kapilavastu at Piprahava in Birdpur block. It is the seat where the Buddha lived for 29 years.
