Maheth, an ancient village, is situated in
Shravasti District of
Uttar Pradesh. It extends over an area of about 400 acres. The massive gates of the city, ramparts and ruins of other structure have been excavated from here. These excavations signify the prosperity of ancient Shravasti.
The prime attraction is the shrine of Bhagvan Sambhavnath, a Jain Tirthankar. It is a
Digambar temple, and a colored idol of Bhagvan Sambhavanath in the Padmasana posture can be found here. There is a Digambar Jain Dharmasala to provide accommodation.
Saheth, famous as the site of Jetavana monastery, is in close proximity to Maheth.
Balrampur Railway Station, 17 km away, is the nearest railhead. Bus and private vehicle services are available.
